Alin Achim is the bassist for the Romanian rock band Cargo, one of the country's most successful bands. They've been awarded double Gold Awards for their albums as well as MTV Awards.
Born in 1972, Alin was attracted to rock music as a kid. "I remember with great pleasure listening Iron Maiden, Judas Priest , Helloween and the Scorpions," he says.
In 1989 he saw Marcus Grosskopf (Helloween) playing a Warwick bass guitar in the video concert, Live in the U.K. "I fell in love with the shapes, the design, and the sound," he says. He regards artists like Lemmy Killmister (Motorhead) and Steve Harris (Iron Maiden) as the most important musical influences in his life, though his father was a bass guitar player whose activity "had a great influence on my artistry," says Alin.
Aside from Marcus Grosskopf, Alin says he plays Warwick because, "They have a boutique, delicate look, but feel very strong. I also love the tone, a firm, rough, full tone, not a delicate, shallow, soft tone; In other words a tone that cuts though the mix perfectly. It's that well-known 'Warwick growl' that makes Warwick perfect for our style."
